HISTORY

Founded in 1880, Heath’s earliest settlers were farming families. Today, more than 8,100 residents enjoy a unique a sense of being removed from the city bustle. Yet wonderful dining, shopping, recreation and worship choices are within minutes of each doorstep.

AMENITIES

A mild year-round climate invites fishing, boating and water-skiing more days than not, and world class sailing can be found at Rush Creek Yacht Club. Buffalo Creek Golf Club is one of Texas’ finest championship golf courses, and a new course at the master-planned Heath Golf & Yacht Club community is now open. In addition to the fields and facilities at Towne Center Park, there are boat ramps, a picnic pavilion and walking path at the waterfront Terry Park.

PARKS

With a recently updated Park and Recreation Master Plan, the city is dedicated to investing in park enhancements and a trail system that provides citywide connectivity including access to the Town Center Overlay District, where new retail and restaurant development is concentrated. The Park Board and City Council are also planning a $12 million renovation of the Towne Center Park.

ENTERTAINMENT

Another new attraction is a dining and entertainment venue that’s drawing both residents and visitors with its great food, music and fun. City-sponsored gatherings include seasonal events throughout the year.

Heath is served by the Rockwall ISD, but you’ll quickly learn that “H” is more than just a letter as our community proudly supports the Hawks at Heath High School as well as the future Hawks attending three elementary schools and a middle school.

CITY OF HEATH COUNCIL AND MAYOR

The City of Heath is a Home Rule City with a council-manager government. The Heath City Council consists of a Mayor and six Council Members who are elected at large. The City of Heath Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) and Heath Municipal Benefits Corporation (HMBC) were incorporated in 2002 as separate Type A and Type B organizations that are governed by the Heath City Council.
